New Home Rehab Supply Blog Contributor…and she’s my daughter!!

June 21st, 2011

I am so excited to announce that my daughter, Melissa Elder, will be contributing articles/posts to my home-rehab-supply.com blog. Melissa is a certified aerobics trainer and has her own blog, dedicated to diabetes. Melissa was diagnosed 4 years ago, the the ripe old age of 21, with TYPE I Diabetes (no, not Type II, but Type I, known as “juvenile” onset diabetes). It has been quite a life-changer for her but she has handled the diagnosis amazingly and gracefully. She has become a dedicated, health conscious woman with a determination to beat this ugly disease. Her blog is http://healthdiabetic.blogspot.com/ and I invite you to check it out. Although it is directed towards diabetics, it is a wonderful blog addressing many health issues that we all face, regardless of diagnosis. I am proud of her and very excited to have her input on our home-rehab-supply.com blog. Stay tuned…

Welcome, Bonda!!

You Need Water!! (and a lot more than you are probably drinking now)

June 10th, 2011
Water is something that is completely overlooked when it comes to weight loss.
We are mostly focused around exercise and diet.  What people don’t know is water is just as essential as healthy food.
Not only is it over looked, but it’s almost entirely forgotten in the Winter.
The majority of people get dehydrated, not in the summer, but in the winter.  Does that surprise you? Most people thinks that because the suns not out beaming and making you sweat, your body doesn’t need it as much.
That is of course false.  The air is at it’s worst in the Winter and your body actually needs MORE during these snowy days.

The average person drinks 2 quarts of water a day, our bodies need 4. Most people don’t drink enough water and wait until they are thirsty.
By the time we are thirsty, are body fluids are already depleted. I actually just recently learned this, but after the age 20, our bodies become less and less aware of the sensation of thirst, and we become dehydrated without even knowing. Pay specific attention if your exercising on a regular basis. Our organs could be screaming for water and not even know it. Water keeps our energy levels high and it actually helps our bodies to not feel sore after workouts.
Getting water from fruits that are high in water content also help a lot with the water intake. Fruit will also help fill up the stomach with low calories and gain tons of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients (nutrients that are important to the human health) to increase vitality. Most of the fruits that carry a lot of water content are also very high in fiber! Which is definitely a bonus!

Fact: Did you know that if you’re actually feeling thirsty, your body is past the point of dehydration?

If you’re body gets to the point of feeling thirsty or you have cotton mouth, your body is basically screaming for water by this point.
Avoid your body having to tell you when it needs water and just drink the amounts that’s needed to sustain your organs.

Goal for today- make it a habit to drink 2 Liters of water a day!

Do your body a favor and give it all the water it’s needing without having to tell you. Your skin will thank you too!!

Home Rehab Supply: Twitter and Facebook

April 20th, 2011

We are getting everything coordinated with the new www.home-rehab-supply.com site redesign, for which I am very excited. You can just look to the right of what you are reading now and click on our Twitter and Facebook icons. You will be taken to our Facebook Page and Twitter Account, where you can become our fans and followers, respectively. Over time, I will begin putting up special promo codes that are only for our Twitter and Facebook folks, so it wouldn’t hurt to get hooked up now.

We also added a “Search” feature to the website so that you don’t have to search through each category one-by-one to find the product you are looking for. The search feature will make life real easy for  you. Check it out now…

One last thing…when you find a home exercise equipment product you like please click the “Like” button at the top of each page, so that you can show your love for our site on your Facebook profile. That would be great. Thanks.
