Exercise: Medicine Ball Abdominal Crunches
Objective: Increase tone and stability of the upper abdominal muscles.
Description: Lie down on your back with the medicine ball held firmly against your chest with both hands. Laying on an exercise mat would be more comfortable. Have your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. You are now ready to perform the exercise.
- Step One: Holding the ball with both hands, lift your head and shoulders off the ground. Be sure not to bend your neck and head forward while lifting, or else you can irritate your neck muscles.
- Step Two: Hold this position for 1-2 seconds.
- Step Three: Lower your shoulders and head back to the ground.
- Step Four: Repeat 10-15 times.
This abdominal exercise should be comfortable for the low back and neck.
