Exercise: Oblique Abdominals Twist

Objective: Increase tone and stability of the oblique abdominal muscles.

Description: Stand up in an upright position holding a medicine ball firmly against your stomach or chest. Feet should be shoulder-width apart.

  • Step One: Turn/twist upper body to one side 45 degrees.
  • Step Two: Hold this position for 1-2 seconds.
  • Step Three: Turn/twist upper body to the other side 45 degrees.
  • Step Four: Hold this position for 1-2 seconds.
  • Step Five: Repeat 10-15 times.

This abdominal exercise should be comfortable for the low back.
